Maureen Greenwood-Basken

A recognized leader in social justice, Maureen has held leadership positions in philanthropy, advocacy and civil society for the past two decades.  Maureen has led the portfolio on Global Children’s Rights since September 2019. She previously served as a Senior Program Officer. She currently serves on the Steering Committee of the Elevate Children Funders Group and on the Executive Committee of the Global Partnership to End Violence.

Previously, Maureen was the Executive Director, Women, Girls and Population, at the United Nations Foundation (UNF). At UNF, she guided the creation of Family Planning 2020, a global multi-stakeholder partnership start-up, and the Universal Access Project, an advocacy pooled fund. At Amnesty International USA, Maureen worked as Managing Director of Government Relations and Advocacy Strategy as well as the Advocacy Director of Middle East, North Africa, and Europe. She has held a number of other positions at other organizations, including the Union of Council for Jews in the Former Soviet Union. Maureen earned her M.A. in International Relations at the University of Chicago and her B.A. in Russian Studies and Psychology from the University of Michigan.
